Cetacean Cooperation

Regular price $35.00

Humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae) are capable of incredible feats. Pictured here, a group of whales has just burst forth from the water after encircling, herding and then consuming a large shoal of herring. This cooperative bubble-net feeding, as the behavior is known, requires communication, coordination and cooperation—all hallmarks of social intelligence.
